KLO Wins Statewide TRO against the Department of Health Care Services, Protecting over 20,000 Medi-C

KLO partners Kelli Kennaday, Curtis Leavitt and Jim Novello prevailed Thursday on an application for a temporary restraining order against California’s Department of Health Care Services, forcing the department to cease its efforts to deactivate the Medi-Cal numbers of 14 clinics and 33 individuals across the state that provide substance abuse, mental health and primary care treatment to over 20,000 low income Californians. In issuing the order, the court determined there would be irreparable harm to the affected patients, and that the petitioners had a probability of showing the Department’s proposed action was unlawful.
