BIOGRAPHY

​

Alexander's practice encompasses various types of civil litigation and courtroom advocacy, with a focus on health care and public entity work. Alexander represents California health plans in various matters including payor-provider disputes, Medi-Cal and Medicaid litigation, contractual issues, regulatory enforcement actions, and licensing.

​

Alexander learned firsthand how cases are decided when clerking for federal judge Hon. Dale A. Drozd of the Eastern District of California. His experiences as a law clerk and judicial extern provide him with unique insight on how to effectively litigate a case from the initial complaint through the appellate process. Prior to joining Kennaday Leavitt, Alexander was a partner and shareholder at one of Sacramento's oldest law firms, where he managed a varied civil caseload specializing in both the defense of physicians in medical malpractice actions as well as the representation of public entities in cases involving civil rights claims and related state torts, including police misconduct, employment, and personal injury cases.

 

Alexander has substantial first-hand experience in all phases of litigation, including both bench and jury trials. He has also served as counsel of record on a number of appeals before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. After graduating from Santa Clara Law School, he served as a federal judicial law clerk in the chambers of the Hon. Dale A Drozd of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of California, then at the Assembly Judiciary Committee of the California legislature. Alexander is a member of the Anthony M. Kennedy Inn of Court and currently serves as Lawyer Representative to the Ninth Circuit for the Eastern District of California, as well as on the Eastern District's civil rights pro bono panel and District planning committee. In his spare time, he enjoys time with his family, reading history, rugby, whitewater rafting, and his German Shepherd.
